The American AIJA members are excited to invite you to the May 2008 half-year conference and seminar in Miami, the Magic City. The seminar has a broad focus—we will be examining challenges faced when doing business in multiple jurisdictions.  The topics we will be exploring are very pertinent in the increasingly global marketplace.  The seminar will offer something for lawyers with a global practice, both in-house and outside counsel for multinational corporations.  The seminar will have a special emphasis on issues particularly relevant to Latin America.  The speakers and panelists are lawyers and practitioners who have years of direct experience addressing the challenges of doing business globally. Miami is a particularly appropriate venue for this seminar, as it is the Gateway to Latin America and one of the truly global cities in the United States.  Miami has a rich mix of people, cultures and languages like nowhere else in the United States and is reflective of the changing face of global business. The social program is designed to give you a sample of the tropical life and Latin culture for which Miami is famous.  We have events planned right on the edge of Biscayne Bay and a sampling of Cuban cuisine at a restaurant owned by the Estefan family on South Beach.  The closing dinner will even be in the “jungle!”  In the true AIJA spirit, we are planning an exciting after hours program on South Beach, where the nightlife is second to none. The conference and seminar will be held at the InterContinental Hotel located on Biscayne Bay and in the heart of Miami’s business district.  It is also within walking distance of the Bayside marketplace and the area where the Miami Heat basketball team plays. The organizing committee looks forward to welcoming you to the Magic City of Miami.  ¡Bienvenidos!
