The AIJA Women Network is delighted to announce the 3rd AIJA Women’s Network Retreat and Leadership Weekend at the Octant Évora, a stunning location surrounded by peaceful nature in the heart of the Alentejo, Portugal, about an hour and a half from Lisbon airport.
This event will take place from Thursday 3 April to Sunday 6 April 2025.
30 places are open to women lawyers on a first-come, first-served basis. We look forward to seeing many of you there!

PROGRAMME
The retreat will be structured around one workshop that will take place on Friday 4 April, focused on how to approach and manage stress.
The workshop will introduce participants to the physiological and psychological mechanisms of stress and provide actionable strategies to mitigate its effects. In particular, the relationship between stress and performance and offer evidence-based practices for stress management will be addressed, including breathwork, mindfulness, and emotional literacy.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
The program combines expositive learning, i.e., presentation with audiovisual aids, and experiential learning including guided mindfulness practices and other exercises to reinforce theoretical knowledge gained.
The workshop will be delivered by expert Francisco Esteves, who is a neuroscientist and life coach.
On Saturday 5 April, in the morning, a sharing meeting will also be organised, during which all participants can exchange views and share experiences. It will also be a great opportunity to gather suggestions to improve and enhance our wonderful network. There will be, of course, room to relax and experience the beautiful hotel pool and spa or enjoy the lovely surroundings. In the afternoon we will then organise fun extra activities.
We are organising a wonderful dinner in the city of Evora on Friday 4 April and fun extra activities for Saturday 5 April in the afternoon: these costs are not covered by the fee above and must be paid individually on site. Details regarding optional activities can be found in the Google registration form.
Transport is not included. We encourage you to try and share Uber, taxis or rental cars from Lisbon airport where possible. Buses from Lisbon are also available (i.e. Flixbus).
REGISTRATION FEE
EUR 265.00 (plus applicable VAT) per participant will be charged. This fee covers the following:
- Dinner on Thursday, 3 April
- Lunch on Friday, 4 April
- Dinner on Saturday, 5 April
- Coffee breaks
- Workshop participation

Key Deadlines:
Registration Deadline: 14 February 2025. Please note that registration is binding and non-refundable; however, participant name changes are permitted.
Hotel Reservation and Payment Deadline: 14 February 2025.
We appreciate your prompt attention to these deadlines to ensure a smooth process.
We will provide you with information on how to pay for the retreat after registration.
By registering you have to accept the general terms and conditions and accept that your registration is considered binding immediately, but participation to the event is possible only after full payment of the registration fee.
Please note that any arrangements related to the participation of the participant in an AIJA event, including but not limited to booking or cancellation of accommodation or flights, as well as respecting the cancellation deadlines indicated in the general terms and conditions, are the sole responsibility of the participant. AIJA shall not be held liable for any expenses the participant may suffer as the result of participant’s failure to comply with his/her obligations.
It is recommended for each participant to purchase a cancellation and travel insurance.
Please note that in-house counsel registrations are subject to review and confirmation by AIJA. AIJA considers in-house counsel professionals who hold a university degree in law allowing access to a bar association and practicing law as an in-house counsel in private, public, or non-profit companies, institutions or organisations. Please note that in-house counsel who are at the same time active as fee-earning lawyers or consultants are not eligible to the discounted in-house counsel fee.

Participants will be hosted in beautiful villas. Each villa has three rooms and can accommodate up to five people (two twin rooms with two separate beds and one single), each room with a private bathroom. Each villa also features a private swimming pool.
There are two price options available:
- 6 places in Single Rooms at a cost of EUR 480,00 per person
- 24 places in Double Rooms at a cost of EUR 270,00 per person (540,00 EUR per room)
The price includes three nights at the resort and breakfast. Reservation and payment will be made directly to the hotel indicating the type of room you prefer and whether you would like to share the room with any other participants. If you wish to share with a specific person, this needs to be indicated to the hotel. We will try to do our best to accommodate you even if at the moment we cannot give guarantees on room allocation.
Please note that depending on the total occupancy of the villas, we may need to do a late relocate of participants to smaller villas or to the hotel’s main building as we are unable to cover costs of any non-occupied rooms.
We will provide you with information on how to book and pay the hotel after registration.
How to Get There:
The nearest airport is Humberto Delgado (Lisboa) – about 1h30/2h00 drive from the hotel.
From Évora to the hotel a taxi must be used that stays around EUR 25,00 per trip.
We suggest arriving on Thursday evening and leaving on Sunday morning.

To the extent necessary for the execution of their respective tasks, our subcontractors in charge of our seminar organisation, our IT infrastructure, our management, the production and maintenance of our website and extranet, are likely to gain access to your data from time to time. Their servers are located in the European Union.
Data relating to your participation in the event shall be stored for a period of 10 years. We are obliged to archive billing data until the end of the period required for our tax and accounting obligations, i.e. for 7 full tax years.
We shall store your contact information to keep you informed until you ask us to stop. You have the right to access your data and have it corrected if necessary.
