Please join us in Helsinki, the “White Pearl of the Baltic” and the capital of the world’s happiest country, from 25 to 27 June 2026 for a triple-conference of the International Arbitration Commission, Labour and Immigration Law Commission and the Insolvency Commission.
The Finnish artist and writer Tove Jansson wrote: "do not tire, never lose interest, never grow indifferent". This is the spirit our three Commissions want to bring to Helsinki and learn from each other. We joined forces to discuss the latest developments specifically concerning the interplay of our fields of law in the global context.
The three involved Commissions will each host separate tracks on day one of the conference. On day two of the conference the three Commissions team up for joint sessions.
The conference takes place in Helsinki, Finland, where Nordic charm meets cutting-edge innovation. Situated at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, Helsinki positions as a natural hub for international business and dialogue. Beyond its professional appeal, Helsinki offers an unforgettable experience with its blend of modern architecture, stunning waterfront views, and rich cultural heritage. The social programme of the conference will enable the attendees to get a glimpse of the beauty and spirit of one of Europe’s most innovative capitals at its finest during the unique Midsummer season, renowned for its nightless nights.
Many national courts in various jurisdictions across the globe are currently experiencing major backlogs when it comes to the average case processing time. Consequently, for many commercial entities, arbitration has become increasingly more appealing as a means of resolving disputes more swiftly. However, a party seeking to utilise this faster dispute resolution process may come across several impediments, such as the non-arbitrability of the claim, jurisdictional objections, or a subsequent challenge to the validity of the award.
The arbitration law track will discuss the applicability and accessibility of arbitration now and in the future, with focus on the issues of arbitrability, jurisdiction, and the possibility of setting aside arbitral awards.
The past years were defined by several global crises but also by the rise of new technologies opening up new horizons in the labour world.
The labour and immigration law track panels will offer a wide range of globally trending topics touching upon crisis situations and its management, digitalisation, globalisation, flexibility, arbitration in employment disputes, secrecy and many more.
Recent years have been marked by multiple global crises and economic instability, elevating the importance of insolvency law as a framework for corporate restructuring and recovery.
Across the globe, there have been numerous advancements, enhancements, and harmonisation of legal frameworks, broadening the scope of tools and possibilities available within insolvency law. And it's not over yet! The European Commission has recently submitted to the Council and the European Parliament a new proposal for a Directive harmonising certain aspects of insolvency law, with other jurisdictions actively evolving their legal frameworks as well.
The insolvency law track will be an opportunity to explore the subjects addressed in those new proposal and developments with experts in the field, see how it currently works in practice in their jurisdictions and compare the status quo with what is coming up.
Join us to discuss trends and practical strategies that are shaping the future of insolvency and corporate rehabilitation.
During joint sessions on day two of the conference, we will identify how lawyers from the different fields of law contribute to consensus-focused solutions in complex, particularly crisis, situations to find a balanced outcome that is in the interest of all stakeholders.
Mark your calendars for this memorable conference. This event is the perfect opportunity to further grow your professional network, learn about the latest development in the fields of international arbitration, labour law and insolvency law, and collect memorable experiences that will contribute to your professional growth.
The social program will offer you a truly unique experience of Finnish culture and traditions. The selection of venues allows you to see Helsinki from different angles: you will enjoy panoramic views over the city from a spectacular rooftop bar on the 16th floor and savour dinner at a historic venue at the base of the iconic Uspenski Cathedral on the maritime shores of Katajanokka.
You will discover the cherished Finnish tradition of sauna (which does include swimwear!) and open-water swimming in the Baltic Sea. The seaside sauna facility Löyly, with its striking contemporary architecture, offers the perfect setting to experience this quintessentially Finnish ritual of alternating between hot sauna and refreshing sea dips.
You will also enjoy the unique opportunity of home hospitality dinner as local lawyers welcome you into their homes for an intimate evening. (Bear in mind that in Finnish tradition everyone removes their shoes indoors – so you may wish to ensure you’re not wearing mismatching socks!)
We also guarantee a night out at karaoke, where a lack of singing ability is not only acceptable but practically expected. On the way back to the hotel, you will get to experience the nightless night, when darkness never truly falls making the boundary between day and night dissolve. This extraordinary natural phenomenon creates an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world.
This is your chance to experience Finland beyond the conference room – a truly unique glimpse into Nordic life and traditions.
